Teotihuacan Pyramids Teotihuacan Civilazaton

Part of my trip to Mexico lead me to a guided tour of Teotihuacan and it's Pyramids just nort of Mexico City. Amazing to say the least. Teotihuacan began as a religious center in the Mexican Highlands around the first century A.D .It became the largest and most populated center in the pre-Columbain Americas. The Mayan City of Teotihuacan was home to multi-floor apartment compounds built to accomommodate the large population. Around 600 A.D. major buildings were deliberately burned along with artworks and religious sculptures being destroyed, suggesting an uprising from the poor against the ruling elite. The worn and destroyed remains fo this city is at the base 0f the Pyramids and an erie reminder of our beginnings in time.
Below is the Mayan city Teotihuacan. It was the first metropolis city in history that was destroyed on purpose in 600 A.D. It was never restored. The Pyramid was their religious center and was the first built many, many years priorto building the city. it is believed that the city was destroyed by the poor people rebelling against the rich leaders.
For a HIstory addict as I am, standing on these ancient grounds and observing the "sophisticated" civicaltion is beoond ANY drug you coud take! Overwhelming AWESOME!!
